October 2022 Reading WrapUp

If you follow me on Bookstagram then you already know October was a terrible month in my personal life. Oddly enough, it was an excellent reading month. Turns out, books are a great form of escape when your life is a dumpster fire. I read my favorite book of the year and a few other really great books which I’ve featured in my October 2022 reading wrapup! And, of course, I’ve shared my thoughts on which books you should buy, borrow, or pass.

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches

The darling of Bookstagram and Booktok, this book is the feel good witchy book we all need in our lives!

Buy

When Life Gives You Vampires

Lol moments, witty banter, and true representation for all the curvy babes, this book was unputdownable for me.

Borrow

Bindle Punk Bruja

If you think you’ll like a Hispanic flapper main character who happens to be an Earth witch, then this is the book for you.

Buy

Wild is the Witch

The biggest disappointment of the month, this book was a little too juvenile for me. Griffin’s first book is a better choice.

Pass

October 2022 Reading Wrapup

The Ladies of the Secret Circus

Not exactly what I was expecting and a little too long, this dual timeline kept me intrigued but was ultimately a little forgettable.

Pass

Mother Daughter Traitor Spy

Fans of WWII Homefront fiction will love this mother/daughter story based on true stories of American Nazi cells in Los Angeles.

Borrow

The Christmas Murder Game

A breath of fresh air in holiday reading, this thrilling who-dunnit will keep you guessing. Filled with literary references, it’s a fun one!

Borrow

Meet Me Under the Mistletoe

Everything I want in a holiday romance and more, this book should be #1 on your 2022 holiday reading list.

Buy

The Witches of Blackbrook

Finally, a young adult novel that captured my attention with all the witchy vibes I love. Fans of Charmed will enjoy this one.

Borrow

For Your Own Good

Twisted and sadistic, this dark academia was exactly what I hoped it would be. Short chapters and a compelling plot makes this a fast read.

Borrow

Angels of the Resistance

Easily the best book of October and my favorite new historical fiction of the year. This book will be on my shelf for a long time to come.

Buy

Mexican Gothic

This historical horror surprised the heck out of me! I couldn’t put this book down and bet you won’t be able to either.

Buy

The Daughters of Temperance Hobbs

I had high hopes for this witchy dual timeline, but ultimately it fell flat. The modern timeline, as good as it was, couldn’t save this one.

Borrow
