My Review
OMG—yes, yes, YES! Strangers in the Night is exactly what I hoped it would be and more. Every Classic Hollywood fan needs this book on their shelf. I could hardly tear myself away from the pages, and honestly, I was mad I’m not paid to read full-time—because I needed to devour the super-sexy, drama-filled saga of Frank and Ava in one sitting.
This book scratched every itch and then some. With razor-sharp banter and sizzling chemistry, the dialogue felt alive and utterly authentic. I found myself swept up in the push-pull dynamic of Frank’s wise-guy New Jersey charm and Ava’s irresistible sass and magnetism. Their personalities leapt off the page—I could hear Frank’s accent in my head and see Ava’s smolder in every line. I only had an e-galley, but I’m betting the audiobook is phenomenal.
Their love affair was the perfect storm of toxic and intoxicating—a beautifully messy romance between two of Hollywood’s brightest stars. Through dual POVs, Webb delivers an emotionally rich look at what drew them together (and tore them apart), peeling back the glamorous curtain to reveal their insecurities, desires, and heartbreaks. It’s raw, passionate, and oh-so-enthralling.
As a classic film fan, I especially loved the behind-the-scenes glimpses—whether fictionalized or inspired by true events. From nods to famous films and iconic Hollywood haunts to name-drops of golden-era stars, Webb layers the setting with just the right amount of nostalgic detail to keep the drama grounded in place and time.
Strangers in the Night is more than just a Hollywood love story—it’s a dazzling, emotionally charged ride through fame, obsession, and the kind of love that burns fast and never quite goes out.
My Rating
Whew—this one was steamy, stylish, and dripping with drama, just as you’d expect from a novel inspired by one of Hollywood’s most scandalous love affairs. I couldn’t look away from the beautiful disaster that was Frank and Ava’s relationship. But beneath the glitz and chaos lies something deeper: a love that refused to fade, even after the divorce papers were signed. Strangers in the Night is a captivating, well-told story that historical fiction fans—and old Hollywood lovers—won’t want to miss. I know I didn’t!
