What This Week: July 11, 2022
With summer fully underway, I thought I’d introduce a new feature to the blog. In addition to book reviews, I’ll also be sharing weekly wrap-ups including all sorts of fun bookish and non-bookish things! I love gathering and sharing relatable content that everyone can use and enjoy, in addition to books, of course. Below is my very first What This Week post featuring all the things I’m reading, watching, eating, and more! Be sure to sign up for my newsletter to get updated What This Week links and all my latest book reviews!

What I’m Reading
New Releases
Releasing this week (July 12), The It Girl by Ruth Ware, promises to be one of the top thrillers of the summer (sorry Riley Sager). I’ve got my eye on all this new title and think you should, too!
Recently Read
I’ve just finished a few advanced reader copies of recently released titles, two of which I highly recommend. One of the Girls by Lucy Clarke is an unputdownable thriller that kept me hanging on until the very end! Weaver by Tish Thawer is a young adult witchy read that scratched my house witch needs. It’s currently on my list of epic Kindle deals, so don’t miss out! I’ll be sharing reviews for both very soon, so stay tuned for email updates about new posts.
Currently Reading
I just started another advanced reader copy of what’s proving to be a very promising historical fiction. The Woman with Two Shadows by Sarah James is a World War II fiction that grabbed my attention in the first few pages and hasn’t let go. The book releases on July 26, so be sure to stay tuned for a review.
I’m also starting to work my way through my summer TBR starting with Summer Darlings by Brooke Lea Foster. Set in 1960’s Martha’s Vineyard, this book is giving off strong summer vibes nostalgic for all things Kennedy-era. It’s also on my list of Kindle deals, so act fast!

What I’m Watching
in with the new
The vampires are back, baby! I literally cannot wait to sink my teeth into Season 4 of one of the funniest shows on television. If you’re not familiar, What We Do in the Shadows is a dark comedy featuring a zany group of vampire roommates living in modern day Staten Island. This show is sure to put a smile on your face. Season 4 starts Tuesday, July 12!
Oldie but Goodie
Now that we’re seriously considering a move to New Orleans, we decide it would be a good time to watch HBO’s Treme. Set in post-Katrina NOLA, the show is known for being highly authentic portrayal of the city. It certainly has me feeling homesick for my favorite city on the planet!
What I’m Listening To
New Music
Interpol, one of my all-time favorite bands, is releasing their first full-length album in more than four years. The Other Side of Make Believe is described as “a masterpiece of sadness, darkness, and introspection” that I, for one, am here for! To say I’m excited is an understatement! Known for their soaring sounds, this NYC band epitomizes moody rock, which I know we all need in our lives right now.
Lizzo is dropping a brand new album, Special, just in time for summer, and I’m hear for it! Her sounds are all over TikTok and Instagram and for good reason. Feminist, fierce, and fly AF, Lizzo’s known for her catchy beats and relevant lyrics. I’m eager to see what the new album has in store for us!
Both albums drop on Friday, July 15!
Audiobooks
I’m a huge fan of witchy reads year round, so it’s no surprise I found myself drawn to a new-to-me witchy audiobook. While I’m only about 25% of the way through this listen, The Witch’s Daughter has loads of potential. I’m listening for FREE with Libby, my favorite audiobook source.
What I’m Eating
Macros
We just subscribed to Elyse’s Macro Friendly Food meal plans to try to get back on track. These last few months have been a real struggle mentally and emotionally, which, of course, means weight gain. Rather than get super restrictive, we’ve decided to try counting macros. To help us get started on our macro-counting journey, we will be following her recipes and meal plans, which all look super tasty. I’ll keep y’all posted!
Meat on Demand
One of my favorite IG accounts is Instant Loss, an uplifting source of healthy eating inspiration from Brittany Williams. She’s a trusted source of healthy recipes and products, and she recently promoted a service I didn’t know I needed. Cooks Venture is a mail order meat supplier that allows you to order farm fresh, pasture-raised meats when you need it! No more subscriptions to manage. We just got our first shipment, and I’m super impressed!
Where I’m Shopping
Prime Day
It’s been a while since I bought anything on Prime Day, but this year I have my eye on a few things. Maybe another Echo or a new pair of AirPods (since I lost one of mine last week). I for sure will be on the lookout for new luggage and travel accessories to use on our trip to Europe later this year. Either way, I’ll be watching the Prime Day Deals like a hawk on July 12 & 13. If you’re in the market for a Kindle, now would be the time to get one! I have no doubt they’ll be deeply discounted. I couldn’t live without my Kindle Oasis!
New Nonstick Needed
I know there’s lots of controversy around nonstick and the best type of pan to buy. I usually cook with cast iron, but for eggs my go-to will always be nonstick. I’ve been in the market for some new nonstick and found this great deal for Calphalon Elite Nonstick at Williams Sonoma that I couldn’t pass up! My new skillets should be arriving just in time to start our new macro meal plan.
That’s a Wrap
What a fun way to start the week! I love sharing more about my day-to-day life, so if that interests you as a reader, stick around. Blogging is a personal journey, one that I miss since I shut down my travel blog in 2018. To me, there’s no better way to be creative and have fun! I hope you stick around for future updates via email, Bookstagram, or Booktok! Have a great week, bebes!
xoxo
