What This Week: June 19
June is in full swing, and I'm inching ever closer to 43! When did that happen?!? My body is definitely feeling every bit of those 43 years lately, too, which is why I'm going to be juicing and exercising full force for the rest of the summer. But for now, I'm home in Louisiana and enjoying all things Cajun cooking. Boudin, anyone? I have high hopes for myself this week in terms of reading goals, but I have a feeling most of my time will be full of family and not fiction. Find out what all I'm up to in this edition of What This Week: June 19!

What This Week: Reading
If you're new here, then you should know that I LOVE ALL THINGS OLD HOLLYWOOD! The glitz and glam of 1930-1950s Hollywood is my favorite. So when I heard Such Good Friends was about Truman Capote, author of Breakfast at Tiffany's, I jumped at the chance to read this new book! I'm only about 10% into the rather long book, so stay tuned for a full review.
I'm still hard at work trying to get caught up on my summer advanced reader copies that I was approved to read via NetGalley. Up next is the summer thriller The Girls of Summer, which several of my friends have said is less of a thriller and more of a domestic drama. I'm eager to see what all the hype is all about!
June is all about reading backlist historical fiction in honor of my Birthday Month. So far I've already read four, and I'm hoping to read at least three more. Up next is The Glorious Guinness Girls which promises to bring the Bright Young Things to life. Have you read this one yet?

Behind-the-scenes
I recently met up with SoCalStorySwappers for another bookclub book discussion! I absolutely love these meet-ups with this lovely group of women. We had such an excellent discussion of Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. And though it wasn't my favorite book, the debate definitely added to my perspective of this book. Read my full review here!

What This Week: Watching
We finally watched Beef, the Netflix series that caught on like wildfire last year. While it wasn't my favorite show ever, it's definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen it yet. The mental health discourse (or lack thereof) and the AAPI cultural representation were excellent. It's dark, deeply twisted, and funny AF at times. Check it out!
What This Week: Lifestyle
I used to travel A LOT which meant I was always on the lookout for good travel gear. Years ago I discovered PacSafe, a brand of travel gear that focuses on keeping your belongings safe and secure. I was an instant convert then and have stayed committed to PacSafe gear since. After 8 years, I finally decided to replace my old backpack with their latest CitySafe model, and, boy, am I thrilled with it?! Not only is it super spacious (17L), the top-loading bag makes packing bulky items a breeze! Plus, it has all the safety features I've come to know and love, including a locking mechanism for the zippers that's stylish and functional. I highly recommend PacSafe for all your summer travel needs, but especially this cute bag!

Nothing makes me feel more like a kid in grown-up skin than matching pajamas! I've kinda become obsessed with matching pj sets over the past few years, and I recently discovered a set that I LOVE! Meet the Sunday Sleep Slub-Knit top and shorts! I will be spending much of the summer in this cute set from Old Navy. Not only are they super comfy, but the material is super breathable and lightweight. I love the boxy look (super forgiving) and the striped style. Get a pair and see for yourself why these are my new favs!
I spend my life in jeans 75% of the time, so when I find a pair that are comfy I usually wear them ALL the time. And as I've mentioned before, I am always on the hunt for mid-rise styles that fit my short torso. My current fav is this pair of Girlfriend jeans from Gap. I wore them to a family reunion the other day and got TONS of compliments. You know you've hit the jackpot when everyone wants a peek at the tag on the back. I paired this dark denim pair with a flowy white top and white Converse for an effortless look that was a hit!
That's a Wrap!
