What This Week: March 27
With so much going on lately in my worklife, it was wonderful to get away for a few days last week and unplug completely. I didn’t work, I didn’t blog, I didn’t post consistently on social media. Heck, I hardly even read! I did spend a lot of quality time with my dad and family, which was the purpose of the trip home. Since losing my mother last year it’s been hard to balance life in Los Angeles and life back home in Louisiana. But we are all managing, which is the best we can hope for at this point. Now I’m back home and back to work/reading/posting/blogging. I’ve got a lot of great content linked below in this edition of What This Week: March 27, so eat your heart out!

What This Week: Reading
I’m still working through FAR too many advanced reader copies than any book influencer should be allowed to request. So, it’s fair to say I am WAY behind on my reading. But, hey, this is a hobby, so I try not to stress too much about it. As soon as I finish The Coronation Year (out April 4) and Two Wars and a Wedding (out now) I plan to start on Strangers in the Night, a fictionalized story of Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner. I am obsessed with Classic Hollywood, so I have no doubt that I will love this book. I’m currently listing to Sign Here (out now), the April book club book for the SoCal Story Swappers, a book club I recently joined. We meet next weekend, and I am sure it will be lots of fun discussing this darkly funny book. Lastly, I plan to start Loyalty (out March 28) on audio as soon as I finish Sign Here. This new historical fiction is about the rise of the mafia in Sicily, and I’m here for it!

What This Week: Watching
There are SO many great shows to watch right now that my head is spinning. With The Last of Us ending, we’ve thrown ourselves into The Mandalorian and Ted Lasso, both recently back for their third seasons. We are obsessed with Perry Mason, too! But we are super excited about the return of Succession and Yellowjackets, both of which return this week!
If you’re looking for a family drama to end all family dramas, please do not miss Succession. The story of an uber-powerful NY family of media moguls determined to bring each other down in order to be on top, Succession is a guilty-pleasure show everyone can get behind.
Yellowjackets is much darker. The show focuses on a group of young people stranded in a remote forest after a plane crash who resort to animalistic behavior in order to survive. Decades later, the survivors are forced to revisit the trauma and the secrets. It’s unbelievably delicious, especially if you’re a Gen Xer! Don’t miss both of these great shows!!
What This Week: Shopping
In preparation for our trip to Europe I’ve been looking at lightweight layers I can add/remove depending on the weather. During my research, I stumbled on SheerTex rip-resistant tights and was instantly drawn to the promise of 10x stronger than regular tights. So, I ordered a pair to test drive before our trip, and I’m thrilled to report they are comfy AF! I wore them all day at a recent conference and never once felt constricted, and they didn’t ride or stretch out like other tights. I loved them so much that I ordered two more pairs for our trip! If you wear tights, check out the SheerTex rip-resistant knit tights. They come in many colors, patterns, and designs!
