What This Week: May 22
May is flying by, and I, for one, am ready for time to slow down! I’m too busy enjoying all the lovely blooms in my neighborhood to notice that June is fast approaching. Things have been hectic in our house, so there hasn’t been as much blogging as I would like, but I do have a few new posts to feature, as well as some great new books. Find out what I’m up to in this edition of What This Week: May 22.

What This Week: Reading
I’m still hard at work trying to work through all the ARCs I agreed to read on NetGalley last Fall. I swore I wouldn’t request any more until I finished the dozens I requested, but I lied to myself. As soon as I finish one I request another, but I’ve at least got my % up to 70+! If you’re curious about NetGalley, then be sure to read my post on how to read books for free. It’s a game-changer!
Back to the books! This week I’ll be working on a mix of genres just to shake things up. I just started reading my Book of the Month copy of Girl Forgotten by Karin Slaughter. She was a favorite author of my mother’s, so I’m eager to see what I think. So far so good!
I’m also reading The Secret Book of Flora Lea, a magical realism novel about a young girl whose little sister goes missing during WWII. I LOVED the other Patti Callahan book I read, and I’ve already fallen hard for this one, too. Stay tuned for a full review.
Finally, I’ll be starting Practice Makes Perfect, the latest rom-com from Sarah Adams. When in Rome, her previous release, was one of my favorite reads of 2022, so I have high hopes about this book which is set in the same small town and features many of the same characters. So pumped to be back in Rome!

IRL Book Club

I went to my second-ever IRL book club with SoCal Story Swappers and had a blast talking about Sally Hepworth’s latest, The Soulmate. We have some fun things planned for future meetings, so I can’t wait to see what the future holds with this great group!

Big thanks to Atria Books for the gifted copy of To Swoon and To Spar, a fun historical romance that sounds perfect for summer reading! It’s out now, so be sure to grab your copy.
What This Week: Watching
We are eagerly awaiting the release of Scorsese’s latest film later this year, Killers of the Flower Moon, starring Leo Dicaprio (and so many other great stars)! My boyfriend read the book and highly recommends it to anyone interested in nonfiction. I probably won’t be reading the book anytime soon, but I will be waiting with my bowl of air-popped popcorn the day the film releases on Apple TV! The film is getting rave reviews online and got a huge standing ovation at Cannes. I cannot wait to see it! Check out this trailer and tell me it doesn’t look amazing.
What This Week: Lifestyle
If you’re like me, you’re always looking for the fountain of youth. Well, after seeing her new Sports Illustrated cover, I think we all need a bit of whatever Martha Stewart is drinking. Seriously though! I need to start taking better care of myself (hello, Beyond Body) if it means I can look as fly as Martha at 81. Word has it she uses this $12 highlighter to get the dewy look featured in her

That’s a Wrap!
What a fun way to start the week! I love sharing more about my day-to-day life, so if that interests you as a reader, stick around. Blogging is a personal journey, one that I miss since I shut down my travel blog in 2018. To me, there’s no better way to be creative and have fun! I hope you stick around for future updates via email, Bookstagram, or Booktok! Have a great week, bebes!
