Winter Reading Wrapup 2026

Winter wrapped

Hi, I'm Carlie

I’m a historical fiction lover sharing newly released books, book club picks, and the types of stories that linger long after the last lines. If you love books the feature strong women and have a TBR that’s slightly out of control…you’re in the right place.

But First, A Quick Word

Hi friend! Welcome to my first ever Winter Wrap-up, where I've collected all the highlights from the past few months to share with you in one place. Keep in mind, the term "winter" is used loosely here given my Southern California setting.

December was an EPIC month for me. I'd finally hit my goal of 10k followers on Instagram, and I got invited to join Mediavine, an ad revenue company for websites like this one. But even with all the fun things happening in the world of SBB, the best part of the month was the downtime with my guy. We watched old favorites like Home Alone and It's a Wonderful Life, spent cozy nights curled up by the tree, and exchanged gifts with Bing crooning in the background. I never was a huge fan of Christmas having grown up very poor, but my guy's helped me find the spirit of the season.

January came with bitter winds (yes, we do have those in Los Angeles sometimes) and lots of rain. Despite that, we found time to get in a few New Year's hikes. Website traffic dropped, but suddenly IG reach exploded, with a few videos going viral including a political statement about the violence in Minnesota. Changes to the TikTok privacy policy didn't vibe for me, which means I walked away from a platform I'd grown to over 15k followers. It was bittersweet, but, in the end, it's been a good thing for me. I feel less stretched when it comes to SBB, which is good because January and February are the busiest season of the year for me personally.

Work has been absolutely bananas, which means that not much reading or content have been happening in February. It happens every year, so I'm not sure why I'm so bummed about it this year other than I feel like I've lost some momentum in terms of SBB growth. I have SO much content to share, some of which is literally just waiting for the Publish button, but not having time to engage and support that content has held me back. Still, a few wins for February include a brand new ambassadorship with Portland Leather, a personal fav brand, and a viral BookTube video that helped me achieve my goal of 2k subscribers there!

Overall, it's a been a good Winter for She's Becoming Bookish, and I hope for you, too. Here are all the highlights from this Winter in one place. I hope you enjoy!!
